Position: Clinician- Parenting Capacity Evaluator
Reports to: Clinical Director
Fee-for-Service-Contractual
Pay rate: $37-45/hr.
Summary
The Clinician will conduct comprehensive and impartial parenting capacity evaluations. The evaluations will address the fit between a youth’s developmental needs and the ability of the youth’s parent(s) to meet those needs in a manner that will provide the youth with sufficient care and protection to prevent abuse or neglect. The Clinicians will respond to specific questions posed by the Department of Children and Families and produce a detailed report by a specified time.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth biopsychosocial evaluations to include youth, parent/caregiver, family, and collateral sources.
- Conduct a comprehensive developmental needs and psychological assessment of the youth’s functioning with particular attention to factors such as age, communication skills, sexual orientation or gender identity, or disability that affect a youth’s vulnerability and level of capability for self-care.
- Review documents, conduct observation of parent/child interactions, and document all activities related to the evaluation. Writes a report using agency content requirements and standards.
- Participate in discussions with DCF staff about written reports to deepen understanding of the evaluation process as well as the findings and recommendations in the report.
- Participate in court proceedings, as requested by DCF, including testifying at a hearing or trial.
- Participate in DCF clinical review teams and/or foster care reviews, as requested by DCF.
- Submit reports to the DCF referral source within the agreed-upon timeframe.
- Actively participates in staff meetings, in-service training, etc.
- Follow established agency policies, procedures, and objectives for conducting impartial and comprehensive assessments.
Competencies
- Knowledge of conducting clinical mental health assessments.
- Strong clinical interviewing skills and clinical documentation skills, or basic level skills and willingness to learn to enhance these skills.
- Knowledge of theories of human, child, and family development frameworks.
- Strong writing skills and willingness to enhance clinical writing skills for progress notes, in-depth clinical reports, and assessments.
- Willingness to learn, or experience with, child protective procedures and programs through DCF.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team, or a willingness to learn.
Job Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, and related fields.
- Licensed mental health professionals (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, etc.) preferred.
- Bicultural/bilingual competency preferred (Haitian Creole, Spanish, etc.).
- Proficiency with use of computer (Microsoft Office, video calls, etc.) as communication and data management tool.
- Ability to travel throughout the state and conduct in-person parent interview and parent/child observations.

Position: Graduate Mental Health Interns
Reports to: Clinical Director
Position Description: Graduate Mental Health Interns provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home-based services to clients in an outpatient, community or virtual setting.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling and care coordination to clients and families as appropriate; prepares treatment plans, discharge plans, and progress notes.
- Collect data about clients through interview, case history, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists.
- Consult with clinician and other mental health staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework.
- Establish and maintains electronic health records, referrals, and other related documents for the treatment of clients; keeps abreast of client data to ensure appropriate treatment and care are delivered.
- Consult with outside agencies and individuals in relation to client records, rights, and responsibilities.
- Actively participate in the agency’s staff meetings, in-service trainings, etc.
- Follow established policies and procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.

- A current Master’s student in a mental health program (i.e. Social Work, Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Psychiatry, Mental Health Counseling, etc.)

- Must complete screening and interview process
- Must complete a background check
- Must obtain malpractice insurance
This is a paid clinical preceptorship.
Position: Licensed Clinician
Reports to: Clinical Director
FT/PT: Part-time
Pay rate: $25-$35/hr.
Summary
The Clinician provides counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services in a virtual and in-person setting. The Clinician cares for the needs of the specific client population and provides appropriate direct client care through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of specific conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations in coordination with client, family, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and develops treatment plans based on client needs/goals.
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy to client and/or family to reduce the impact of identified problems to achieve improved functioning and emotional state.
- Consults with mental health and medical staffs, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required.
- Refers clients to appropriate primary care and social service agencies for medical care, financial assistance, and other required services.
- Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used, changes method, and degree of therapy when indicated.
- Documents each client encounter in the medical record and complies with organization, regulatory, and professional requirements for documentation recording and data collection.
- May provide consultation and in-service training to relevant professionals.
- Actively participates in staff meetings, in-service training, etc.
- Follows established agency policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety standards.
- Provides supervision to paraprofessionals.
Competencies
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
- Willing to learn and utilize telehealth technologies (video, chat, etc.) for a variety of clinical care and care management services.
- Knowledge of conducting clinical mental health assessments.
- Strong clinical interviewing skills and clinical documentation skills, or basic level skills and willingness to learn to enhance these skills.
- Knowledge of theories of human, child, and family development frameworks.
- Strong writing skills and willingness to enhance clinical writing skills for progress notes, in-depth clinical reports, and assessments.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team, or a willingness to learn.
